About the trail
This gentle route ascends the terraced, pine-clad slopes of Pico do Castelo, a hill once fortified against pirate raids. Well-graded paths pass shaded forest and open onto wide views over Vila Baleira and Porto Santo's long southern beach — one of the island's most accessible signposted walks.
