Climbing out of Maroços, this path crosses the Funduras range — one of the best-preserved pockets of native laurel forest in eastern Madeira. Under a canopy of heather and laurisilva, walkers enjoy far-reaching views toward the eastern peninsula before reaching the Portela viewpoint.
