About the trail
Crossing the high plateau of Paul da Serra, this route descends into the Fanal — a UNESCO-listed pocket of ancient laurisilva. Its centuries-old til trees, gnarled and moss-draped, are often wrapped in drifting mist, ending near the grassy clearing and lake that make Fanal one of Madeira's most photographed landscapes.
